Orthotics

A foot orthotic is a device that is placed inside a shoe to help support the arch of the foot to control abnormal biomechanical forces that can lead to foot, ankle, knee and even low back pain.  While some patients can utilize over-the-counter type arch supports, other patients require custom molded devices.  At Shore Orthopaedic University Associates, we provide both orthotic services.

After a thorough review, the physician will determine if an over the counter foot orthotic or a custom orthotic is needed.

For patients who require a custom foot orthotic a cast impression of your feet will be made, which is then sent out to a lab for orthotic fabrication.

For patients who require an over-the-counter orthotics they can be fitted and provided at the time of your visit.

Each patient is recommended the type of foot orthotic best suited to support the biomechanical abnormalities in their particular case.
